Betty Akeredolu, widow of the late former Ondo State governor Rotimi Akeredolu, has officially obtained her nomination and expression of interest forms to contest the Imo East Senatorial seat in the 2027 general elections.
Her supporters picked up the forms on her behalf at the national headquarters of the Labour Party in Abuja on Thursday, marking a formal step in her senatorial ambition.
If elected, Akeredolu is expected to represent Imo East Senatorial District in the Senate, where she would take over from the incumbent lawmaker, Ezenwa Onyewuchi.
Her move into the race comes just two months after she officially joined the Labour Party, signalling a stronger political involvement ahead of the 2027 election cycle.
