X influencer Samuel Adeboye Adeyeye, popularly known as Swanky, has regained his freedom after a court-imposed fine was paid by a benefactor, following his conviction over false claims involving the daughter of music stars Adekunle Gold and Simi.
The development was confirmed by human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, who had earlier called for attention on the case and advocated for his release.
According to Sowore, Swanky—who operates on social media under the handles @Swanky001 and Swanky_concept—was freed after a Good Samaritan stepped in to settle the fine imposed by the court in place of a custodial sentence.
He explained that Swanky had been arrested, prosecuted, and convicted by a Federal High Court in Lagos on charges of cyberstalking, cyberbullying, and spreading false and malicious information. The case stemmed from social media posts about the child of singer Adekunle Gold and his wife, Simi.
Sowore said:
“A piece of good news worth reporting is that Samuel Adeboye Adeyeye, popularly known online by his handles @Swanky001 and Swanky_concept, has regained his freedom after a Good Samaritan paid the court-imposed fine in lieu of imprisonment.”
He added that following public interventions over the sentence, a concerned individual stepped forward to offset the fine, leading to Swanky’s release and reunion with his family.
The case had drawn widespread attention online, sparking conversations around cyberbullying, misinformation, and accountability on social media platforms.
