Davido has continued to react playfully to criticism surrounding his World Cup performance outfit and his remarks during the opening ceremony.

The music star had used his appearance on the global stage to draw attention to Nigeria’s ongoing security challenges, including bandit attacks and the kidnapping of schoolchildren and teachers, a move that earned him praise from many Nigerians but also criticism from some government supporters.

Among those who reacted was Hausa singer Dauda Kahutu Rarara, who publicly criticised Davido over his comments, saying the Afrobeats star was wrong to use the platform in that manner.

In response, Davido appeared to mock the singer’s video, particularly the way his name was pronounced, sharing a laughing reaction and writing: “Debidooo 😭” alongside a crying emoji.

The exchange has since sparked conversations online, with social media users divided over the original comments made at the World Cup and the subsequent reactions from both entertainers.

Rarara, known for his politically charged music in northern Nigeria, had spoken passionately in Hausa during his response video, which many viewers interpreted as a strong rebuke of Davido’s earlier statement on insecurity.
