Nigerian singer Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has opened up about experiencing heartbreak after a lady he approached for a serious relationship turned down his proposal.
The singer made the revelation during a livestream with streamer Okiki on Friday night, explaining that he had approached the woman with the intention of pursuing a long-term relationship.
According to Rema, the lady declined because she was not ready to commit to one person and wanted to continue experiencing life as a single woman.
Rema said the experience inspired his song, ‘Oh No’.
“The song was inspired by a lady I wanted a serious relationship with, but she said she still wants to be on the streets,” he said.
The 26-year-old singer also disclosed that he has been taking time to reflect on his life and experiences, noting that his rise to fame came at a very young age.
Rema said he is currently re-evaluating different aspects of his life after becoming famous at 17, adding that “everything moved so fast” following his breakthrough in the music industry.
