The fallout from Senegal’s disputed technical defeat in the AFCON final continues to intensify, with new actions raising further intrigue.

According to reports, head coach Pape Thiaw took the Africa Cup of Nations trophy to a military facility, where soldiers were seen posing with it and even touching the silverware.

The trophy is now said to be under heavy guard at the base, a move believed to be precautionary as uncertainty surrounds its ownership following CAF’s decision to award Senegal a technical loss and recognise Morocco as champions.

Attention has now shifted to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which is currently reviewing Senegal’s appeal.

If the final ruling upholds CAF’s verdict, Senegal will be compelled to return the trophy and relinquish the title to Morocco.
