Political commentator Reno Omokri has argued that Nigeria’s security situation has improved under President Bola Tinubu, urging Nigerians to rely on facts and data rather than emotions when assessing the country’s progress.
According to Omokri, public discussions about insecurity are often influenced by political opinions and personal perceptions, which can sometimes overshadow measurable developments on the ground.
While acknowledging that security challenges still exist in various parts of the country, he maintained that the overall situation is better than it was eight years ago.
“When you focus on facts rather than emotions, the data shows that Nigeria is more secure under President Tinubu than it was eight years ago,” he stated.
Omokri also expressed support for the creation of state police, describing it as a key reform that could strengthen efforts to combat crime and insecurity at the grassroots level.
He argued that allowing states to establish and manage their own police forces would improve response times and enhance local intelligence gathering, ultimately making communities safer.
“State police will further improve security,” he added.
His comments come amid ongoing national debates over security, policing reforms and calls for greater decentralisation of law enforcement across the country.
