The Ogun State Police Command says it has made a major breakthrough in the investigation into the killing of former Ogun State Television broadcaster, Olakitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, Pelumi Adetayo, with the arrest of three suspects.
One of the suspects is a former security guard who had previously worked for the late broadcaster, according to the police.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abeokuta on Thursday, the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, said the arrests were the result of painstaking investigations carried out by detectives using intelligence gathering, forensic evidence and technical tracking tools.
The double murder shocked residents after Oyesiku and Adetayo were found dead at the broadcaster’s residence in the Owode-Egba area on June 21.
Following the discovery, Oyesiku’s Lexus RX 330 was found to be missing from the premises, prompting suspicions that the attackers may have fled with the vehicle after the crime.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing as efforts continue to determine the motive behind the killings and the level of involvement of each suspect.
