James Adio, the suspended Students’ Union Government President of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), has regained his pposition following intervention by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS).

The development was announced on Wednesday by NANS President Akinteye Babatunde, who confirmed that Adio had been officially reinstated after engagements with the university management.

“Finally, Comrade Adio, the FUOYE SUG President, has been officially reinstated,” Babatunde stated in a post on X.

The reinstatement follows earlier efforts by NANS to secure a review of disciplinary actions taken against Adio and other affected students.

Before the decision, Babatunde disclosed that FUOYE’s Senate would meet to consider Adio’s suspension and determine the next course of action.

“The University Senate will convene on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, to give Comrade James Adio fair consideration and the necessary support that will serve both the interest of justice and his academic pursuits going forward,” he said.

NANS also revealed that several students who were previously suspended had their sanctions lifted after discussions with university authorities. The students were subsequently allowed to participate in their ongoing examinations.

The student body described the outcome as the result of sustained dialogue with the institution aimed at ensuring fairness and protecting the academic interests of the affected students.
