Brighton and Albion have announced the signing of Nigeria international winger Femi Azeez from Millwall on a four-year contract.
They are paying £12.5 million although there are understood to be potential add-ons.
Fans were left waiting overnight for confirmation he had completed his move from The Den.
The two clubs submitted a deal sheet ahead of the 11pm deadline to give them another two hours in which to get the deal over the line.
Business was successfully completed within that extended time frame.
Meanwhile Albion told fans “to be continued” via social media ahead of the Wednesday announcement.
Azeez’s arrival capped a busy last few hours of the window which also saw Spain under-21 midfielder Chema Andres join from Stuttgart while Amario Cozier-Duberry signed a new contract.
There were also several departures, mostly on loan.
Albion sporting director Mike Cave said: “We are delighted to add Femi to the squad.
“He arrives off the back of an excellent season with Millwall, having played a key role for them as they finished in the playoffs.
“He was one of the most exciting attacking talents in the Championship, and we’re delighted to have finally agreed his transfer, and we now looking forward to working with him.”
Azeez was named in both the PFA and the EFL’s Championship teams of the season for the 2025-26 campaign.
Head coach Fabian Hurzeler will now assess his options to face Leeds on
Saturday.
