American rapper Cardi B has spoken out following widespread speculation linking her to Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye, saying she faces an unusual level of public scrutiny over her personal life.
The Grammy Award-winning star made the comments in a video shared on her Instagram Story on Monday, shortly after she and the Udinese goalkeeper were seen having dinner together in Venice, Italy.
Describing the constant attention she receives, Cardi B said, “No cap, I’m really hip hop’s Britney Spears,” suggesting that nearly every move she makes becomes headline news.
She added that although she knows plenty of secrets about other celebrities, the media rarely reports on their relationships or private affairs.
“I got all the tea on these celebrities… I know who’s with who and what’s doing what. But guess what? Nobody reports about it. You want to know why? Because nobody cares,” she said.
Cardi B complained that her own situation is different, saying even the most ordinary moments in her life quickly become the subject of public conversation.
“But when it comes to me… I can’t even… do anything without people talking about it. This is crazy,” she said.
The rapper, however, admitted she has accepted the downside of fame, saying, “You’ve got to take the good with the bad. It is what it is. People pay for this type of talk.”
