President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Muslims in Nigeria and across the world on the celebration of Eid-el-Kabir 2026, urging citizens to embrace sacrifice, compassion, unity and faith.
In his Sallah message released on Tuesday, Tinubu thanked Almighty Allah for preserving lives to witness another Eid-el-Kabir celebration, describing the festival as a reminder of the virtues demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim, including obedience, devotion and selflessness.
The President said Nigerians should use the occasion to show mercy and kindness to one another, regardless of ethnic, religious or racial differences.
According to him, the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son, Ismail, remains one of the greatest examples of faith and dedication to God.
Tinubu also spoke on the state of the nation, saying his administration’s economic reforms, though difficult, were necessary to rebuild Nigeria and secure a better future for coming generations.
He expressed optimism that the sacrifices made by Nigerians and the government over the past three years had begun yielding results, noting that the country now enjoys a more stable economy and has become a more attractive destination for investors.
“The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here,” the President stated.
On insecurity, Tinubu acknowledged that terrorists and bandits were still attacking some communities despite efforts by security agencies, including the recent killing of a wanted ISIS leader.
He assured affected Nigerians that they had not been abandoned and vowed that his administration would continue fighting criminal elements until peace is fully restored.
The President also urged Muslims to pray for Nigeria, peace, and wisdom for leaders during the sacred celebration.
He encouraged citizens to support the less privileged and strengthen the spirit of brotherhood and unity across the country.
Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving security, infrastructure, agriculture and human capital development, adding that the government would continue working towards building a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria where citizens can pursue their dreams freely.
He ended the message by wishing Nigerians a peaceful, joyful and blessed Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
“May Allah accept our sacrifices and prayers, and may He continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Eid Mubarak! Happy Sallah!” he said.
