Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has vowed to draw international attention to the Osun State governorship election if he believes the exercise is compromised.
The singer made the statement during a live conversation with comedian Carter Efe while stressing the importance of a credible election on August 15.
Davido, whose uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, is contesting for another term, said he would not remain quiet if there were issues capable of affecting the outcome or credibility of the poll.
He specifically mentioned United States President Donald Trump, saying he could seek his intervention if something went wrong during the election.
“I will involve Trump if anything goes wrong in the Osun election,” Davido said.
The singer has been actively backing his uncle’s re-election campaign and has previously called on relevant authorities to ensure that voters are allowed to freely choose their preferred candidate.
With political activities intensifying across the state ahead of the August 15 poll, Davido’s latest comments have added to the growing attention surrounding the election and the calls for a transparent electoral process.
