The Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna has granted bail to former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, while a separate bail application before the Kaduna State High Court was adjourned to April 21, 2026.

The proceedings, presided over by Justice Rilwan Aikawa, were conducted under tight security, with operatives stationed at various points within and around the court premises to control movement and maintain order.

On Tuesday, two different court sittings held in Kaduna in relation to bail applications connected to El-Rufai, with both courts handling related but separate matters.

At the Federal High Court, the former governor was admitted to bail under strict conditions. The court fixed the bail bond at ₦200 million and ordered that he must provide two sureties. One of the sureties is required to present a valid Certificate of Occupancy for a landed property, while the second must be a prominent elder in Kaduna State, certified by the Kaduna State Council of Elders.

The court also imposed additional restrictions, including a directive barring El-Rufai and his legal team from speaking to the media until the conclusion of the trial. He is further required to report monthly to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and submit his international passport to the court.

In a separate development, the Kaduna State High Court did not conclude its own bail hearing, instead adjourning the matter to April 21, 2026.
