Former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai will have to wait longer for the determination of his bail application as the Kaduna State High Court has adjourned the matter to the first week of June 2026.
The case, presided over by Justice Darius Khobo, involves a nine-count amended charge filed by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, which accuses El-Rufai of alleged fraud and abuse of office.
He was in court last week for the hearing of his bail request, but the judge postponed ruling on the application, initially shifting it to April 21, 2026, before further extending the date to June.
Meanwhile, El-Rufai is also facing a separate corruption-related matter in which the Federal High Court in Kaduna granted him bail in the sum of N200 million. In that earlier ruling, the court ordered that he remain in ICPC custody until he meets all bail conditions.
As part of those conditions, he is restricted from making public statements about the case and is required to attend all court proceedings.
