A former classmate of Peter Obi at Christ the King College (CKC), Onitsha, has recounted how the politician demonstrated an unusual business mindset while they were still students.
The former schoolmate, identified as Mr Frank, made the revelation in a video shared on social media, recalling their days as boarding students in Class Three.
According to him, Obi was already involved in buying and selling at a time when most of their classmates were focused solely on their studies. He said Obi would travel to Lagos, purchase second-hand clothes and return to the school to sell them to other students.
Frank said Obi’s early involvement in business was one of the things that made him stand out from his peers and suggested that he had a strong sense of direction from a young age.
“While we were in school back then, Peter Obi was already ahead of us because he was into business even while we were in Class Three as boarding students. He was a trader. He would go to Lagos, buy second-hand clothes and sell to us,” he said.
Reflecting further on Obi’s personality, Frank described him as a dignified individual with a strong commitment to truth and accountability.
He also suggested that Obi had displayed from childhood some of the qualities that would later define his public life.
“He is the most dignified Nigerian. A man of substance, truth and accountability. There are some people that are born, and they already know what they will become. Peter is in that mode,” he added.
