The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, has revealed that he personally initiated and supervised a six-month probe into the financial dealings of popular cleric, Jerry Eze, over alleged money laundering.

Speaking on the issue, Olukoyede said, “I investigated Pastor Jerry Eze for six months for money laund3ring and later called him to commend him.”

He explained that the investigation was comprehensive and carried out in response to widespread public concerns about the pastor’s finances and ministry activities. After months of scrutiny, however, the anti-graft agency found no evidence linking Eze to any wrongdoing.

Olukoyede stressed that the outcome highlights the need for proper investigation and reliance on verified facts, particularly when allegations involve prominent individuals.

He further disclosed that after concluding the probe, he personally contacted the cleric to acknowledge the clean outcome.

The disclosure has since stirred reactions across religious and public spaces, with many describing it as an unusual case where a high-profile investigation ended with official praise.
