Nigerian comedian and actor Bovi Ugboma has opened up about his views on marriage and divorce, stating that he does not always regard the end of a marriage as a negative outcome.
Speaking during an appearance on The Morayo Show, Bovi explained that there are situations where divorce can be the best decision for those involved, particularly when a relationship has become unbearable.
“I celebrate when people get divorced because I feel it means one or two people were not breathing well inside that space. I will not suffer anybody, neither will I want anybody to suffer me.”
Despite his remarks, the comedian stressed that he is not against marriage. He pointed to his own experience, noting that sustaining a long-term relationship requires commitment and perseverance.
Bovi disclosed that he has been married for 17 years, describing the experience as rewarding but far from easy. According to him, the journey has involved significant responsibility and sacrifice.
He further revealed that he tied the knot at the age of 29 and has carried the responsibility of providing for his family ever since, a role he has maintained throughout the duration of his marriage.
