Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwo has expressed pride in her long-standing reputation for playing “wicked” roles in movies, saying such characters help highlight hidden problems in society.
Speaking on how she feels about frequently being cast as an antagonist, the actress noted that while her on-screen roles are far from who she is in real life, she values the impact they have on audiences.
“I feel proud because it exposed the ills in society. Those things happen, but nobody wants to talk about them. I’m not like that in real life, but I’m proud of myself for playing those wicked roles.”
Patience Ozokwo explained that her characters often reflect real-life issues people prefer to ignore, adding that film provides a safe way to address such uncomfortable topics and spark conversations.
Over the years, she has become widely known for her powerful portrayals of strict mothers-in-law and antagonistic characters, earning her both admiration and strong recognition within Nollywood for her convincing performances.
