The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced an end to admissions into degree programmes offered by Colleges of Education through affiliations with universities, starting from the 2026/2027 academic session.

The directive was contained in JAMB’s newly released NCE/ND Agriculture Registration Guidelines issued by the Office of the Registrar in June 2026.

Under the new policy, candidates will no longer be able to seek admission into university-affiliated degree programmes through Colleges of Education.

JAMB stated clearly in the guidelines: “No admission into any affiliated programme in any College of Education from 2026/7 Session.”

The Board also scrapped direct admissions into 100 and 200 levels in Colleges of Education, insisting that all prospective students must now begin their studies through the Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) programme.

“With effect from 2026/7 Session, no admission into 100 or 200 Level is allowed into any College of Education. All entrants are through NCE,” the guidelines added.

The development marks a major shift in the admission process for Colleges of Education across the country and is expected to affect students seeking degree qualifications through affiliated institutions.
