Former Transportation Minister, Rotimi Amaechi, has explained the reasons behind his departure from both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The former Rivers State governor spoke on Friday during an interview on Channels Television, where he reflected on his political journey and his exit from both major parties.

Amaechi, who is now a presidential aspirant under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), claimed he was forced out of the PDP by former President Goodluck Jonathan and his wife, Patience Jonathan.

He also said his exit from the APC followed a similar pattern after he contested the party’s presidential primary against President Bola Tinubu, insisting that internal power struggles influenced his decisions.

According to him, control of party structures played a key role in his political fallout with both platforms.

“I was chased out of the PDP and APC by the then presidents,” he said.

“The president and his wife took over the party structure in Rivers State and chased me out. The same thing happened in the APC.”
