Former Senate President Bukola Saraki and former Kwara State Governor Abdulfatah Ahmed are set to be arraigned on June 4 over a 20-count charge filed by the Kwara State Government in connection with the 2018 Offa bank robbery.

The case is scheduled before Justice Haleemah Salman of the Kwara State High Court.

Also listed as defendants are Yusuf Abdulwahab and Alabi Olalekan.

The charges, filed on April 9 by the Attorney-General of Kwara State, Ibrahim Sulyman, border on conspiracy, culpable homicide and other alleged offences linked to the deadly robbery incident.

The prosecution said the case followed the Court of Appeal’s affirmation of the conviction of key suspects, including Ayo Akinnibosun.

According to the state government, statements made by Akinnibosun during trial allegedly connected the robbery to a political network that supported and armed the attackers.

It also alleged that some suspects were seen with Saraki during a visit to Offa after the incident, while certain items linked to the robbery were recovered from government facilities in 2018.

Akinnibosun was further alleged to have claimed he received firearms, a vehicle and cash from Abdulwahab.

Saraki has denied all allegations, insisting the case is politically motivated and aimed at tarnishing his image.

Ahmed has also dismissed the claims, maintaining that he had no involvement in the robbery.
