Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, has declared his intention to contest for the Agege Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
He made the announcement on Tuesday during a stakeholders’ meeting in Agege, where he said he was responding to calls from APC leaders in the constituency urging him to step into the race.
“I am here because the leaders of our party in Agege have called on me to step forward and represent them at the federal level,” he said.
At the same gathering, Obasa also rallied support for two of his political allies seeking seats in the Lagos State House of Assembly. He endorsed Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi, former Chairman of Agege Local Government, for Agege Constituency I, while backing Azeez Oladapo Yusuf Ninolowo for Agege Constituency II.
He further urged party members and stakeholders to mobilise ahead of the APC primaries, stressing the need for unity in securing victory for his preferred candidates.
The development has added fresh momentum to the political race in Agege, as multiple aspirants continue to vie for the party’s ticket ahead of the primaries.
