Manchester City F.C. have officially confirmed that manager Pep Guardiola will leave the club after Sunday’s final game of the season.

Guardiola will bring an end to a historic spell at Manchester City, where he won 17 major trophies, including six Premier League titles across 10 seasons in charge.

The 55-year-old’s final match as City manager will be against Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium.

Speaking on his decision to step down, Guardiola said there was no specific reason behind his departure, explaining that he simply feels the time is right.

“Don’t ask me the reasons I’m leaving,” he said. “There is no reason, but deep inside, I know it’s my time.

“Nothing is eternal, if it was, I would be here. Eternal will be the feeling, the people, the memories, the love I have for my Manchester City.”

Reports earlier in the week revealed that City had already begun preparations for Guardiola’s exit despite him still having a year left on his contract.

Former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca, who previously worked under Guardiola at Manchester City, is currently being tipped as the leading candidate to replace him.

The announcement comes just days after City lost the Premier League title to Arsenal F.C. following their draw against Bournemouth, which handed Arsenal their first league triumph in 22 years.
