Residents of the Ojoo area of Ibadan, Oyo State, were gripped by fear on Wednesday after a violent clash broke out within the community.
According to reports, the unrest involved groups believed to be from the Yoruba and Hausa communities, although security authorities had yet to officially confirm the circumstances surrounding the incident at the time of filing this report.
In response, operatives of Operation Burst, Oyo State’s joint security outfit, were deployed to the area to restore calm and maintain law and order.
Residents have been urged to remain calm, stay away from affected areas, and rely on official updates from security agencies.
Reports also indicated that a scavengers’ depot popularly known as “Bolla” was set ablaze during the violence. However, the cause of the fire and those responsible had not been confirmed.
As of the time of this report, security agencies had not issued an official statement, while efforts were ongoing to contain the situation and prevent further escalation.
