The Nigeria Police will on Tuesday arraign the Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), Adeniyi Adeyemi, before the Federal High Court in Abuja over alleged forgery, impersonation and related offences.
Adeyemi and two others are facing an eight-count charge filed by police prosecutor Wisdom Madaki. The police alleged that Adeyemi operated the fictitious agency from the Federal Secretariat Complex, Phase III, Abuja, before his arrest.
The arraignment follows an earlier directive by President Bola Tinubu ordering the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the activities of the alleged fake agency.
The case was initially scheduled for June 16 but was adjourned after Adeyemi was said to be ill and unable to take his plea.
Court documents list the President’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, among the prosecution witnesses, alongside civil servants, police officers and other individuals linked to the investigation.
The police also intend to tender several documents as evidence, including the investigation report, an alleged fake presidential appointment letter, Gbajabiamila’s petition and official correspondence connected to the operations of the alleged agency.
