Real Madrid have reportedly secured their first major signing of the summer transfer window after reaching an agreement with Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries.
According to reports, the Spanish club moved swiftly to avoid lengthy negotiations by activating the Dutch international’s €20 million release clause.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano also claimed the deal has been finalised, stating that Real Madrid have already prepared the necessary documents to complete the move, with the transfer described as a “here we go” agreement.
The deal is seen as a significant boost for the club’s president Florentino Pérez, with Madrid securing an experienced international full-back at a relatively low fee without engaging in a bidding war.
Dumfries is said to have accepted personal terms offered by the Spanish giants ahead of the move.
The signing is expected to address Real Madrid’s right-back concerns, following injury issues affecting Trent Alexander-Arnold last season and the departure of long-serving defender Dani Carvajal after his contract expired, leaving a gap in the squad that the club moved quickly to fill with the Dutch defender.
