Rotimi Amaechi, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) vice-presidential candidate, has announced the passing of his mother, Mrs Mary Amaechi.
She died peacefully on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at the age of 89.
In a statement released by the Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi Media Office, the late Mrs Amaechi was described as a loving matriarch who united her family through love, peace, and harmony.
The statement also highlighted her service as a community women’s leader and a committed Christian whose unwavering faith in God defined her life.
“It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of the beloved mother of Rt Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, Vice Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Late Mrs. Mary Amaechi, who departed peacefully on Thursday, 16th July, 2026. She was 89.
“Late Mrs. Mary Amaechi was a cherished matriarch who held her family together in love, peace, and unity. She was a community women’s leader and Christian leader whose faith in God was firm and resolute.
“She was loved and highly respected in her community and will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support for those around her and beyond.”
The statement added that Amaechi and his family appreciate the prayers, condolences, and support they have received during this difficult time.
