Activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has intensified the campaign against the controversial development around Jabi Lake, warning FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to remove the barricade at the location within seven days.

Addressing supporters during a protest, Sowore accused authorities of attempting to take over a public space used by ordinary residents for recreation and survival. Speaking through a megaphone, he declared that protesters would return in larger numbers if nothing was done before the ultimatum expires.

According to him, Nigerians would not sit back and watch public land be taken away from the people.

“We are giving them seven days ultimatum to remove any hindrance interfering with this place. If they refuse, Nigerians themselves can bring the wall down,” he said.

He added that the structure would not withstand the force of determined citizens, comparing it to the biblical wall of Jericho which collapsed.

“This wall is not stronger than the wall of Jericho, and that one fell. If that one could fall, this one too can fall,” Sowore stated.

The activist also sent a warning to the developer handling the project, urging them to abandon the site and demand another allocation from the government instead.

He described the area as sacred land and insisted that those trying to seize it would never know peace.

Sowore further argued that many young people around Jabi Lake depend on the environment for their daily livelihood, saying the development could destroy the only source of income for several struggling residents.

“You cannot provide jobs for people and still want to take away the little place where they survive,” he said.

He concluded by warning that the frustration among Nigerians was rising rapidly, stressing that continued actions against the people could trigger a nationwide uprising.
