Popular TikToker Don Pedro has issued a public apology to the Nigerian military after a viral video featuring a soldier reportedly resulted in the serviceman’s arrest.
The controversy began after the soldier, dressed in his military uniform, appeared in one of Don Pedro’s videos asking for financial assistance, saying, “I’ve not eaten.” The clip quickly gained traction online and was followed by reports that the soldier had been taken into custody.
Reacting to the development, Don Pedro expressed regret, saying he never imagined the video would have such consequences. He apologised to the Nigerian military and pleaded for leniency on behalf of the detained soldier.
“My fellow Nigerians, please forgive me. Sincerely speaking, I didn’t know this video would turn out this way. Of course, people know how I feature Nigerian personnel on my platform. I sincerely apologize to the Nigerian military. Please forgive me, and I also appeal on behalf of the arrested soldier,” he said.
