President Bola Tinubu has returned to Abuja following the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations in Lagos, where he participated in a series of political, official and diplomatic activities.
In a statement released on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the president arrived at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 5:17 p.m.
He was welcomed by several top government officials, including FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu and others.
While in Lagos for the Sallah holiday, Tinubu hosted Vice President Kashim Shettima and members of the Senate leadership led by Senate President Godswill Akpabio. He also received governors under the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, headed by its chairman and Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
The president further met with APC stakeholders from Oyo State led by the party’s governorship candidate, Sharafadeen Alli, alongside APC candidates contesting for seats in the House of Representatives and the Lagos State House of Assembly.
On Monday, Tinubu attended the International Fleet Review held at Eko Atlantic City as part of events commemorating the Nigerian Navy’s 70th anniversary. During the ceremony, he commissioned three naval vessels — NNS Oloibiri, NNS Mambila and NNS Gurara.
He also held talks with Benin Republic President Romuald Wadagni, with discussions centred on bilateral relations, regional collaboration and strengthening economic partnerships between both nations.
