Former U.S. President Donald Trump has commended the Nigerian government following a joint military operation that reportedly led to the killing of Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, described as ISIS’s second-in-command.
Trump said the mission was carried out through coordinated efforts between American forces and the Armed Forces of Nigeria, noting that it was a highly complex and carefully planned operation.
According to him, the target, identified as one of the world’s most active terrorists, had been tracked after attempting to hide in Africa.
“Tonight, at my direction, brave American forces and the Armed Forces of Nigeria flawlessly executed a meticulously planned and very complex mission to eliminate the most active terrorist in the world from the battlefield. Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, second in command of ISIS globally, thought he could hide in Africa, but little did he know we had sources who kept us informed on what he was doing,” he said.
Trump added that the removal of the terrorist figure would significantly weaken ISIS operations globally, preventing further attacks and coordination of violent activities.
“With his removal, ISIS’s global operation is greatly diminished,” he stated.
He also expressed appreciation to the Nigerian government for its cooperation in the operation, describing the partnership as a major boost in ongoing efforts to combat terrorism worldwide.
