FIFA President Gianni Infantino has revealed that U.S. President Donald Trump will be present at the 2026 FIFA World Cup final and will join him in presenting the trophy to the tournament champions.
The highly anticipated final will take place on July 19 at MetLife Stadium. According to Infantino, both men will watch the match together before stepping onto the pitch for the trophy presentation ceremony.
Speaking during an interview with Fox & Friends, the FIFA chief spoke about his strong relationship with Trump and praised the American leader for supporting FIFA’s efforts to host the competition in the United States.
“We will be together with the president [Trump] enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner, of course, together.
“We are together all the time.”
Infantino noted that collaboration between FIFA and the U.S. government has been vital to the successful organisation of the expanded World Cup, adding that Trump has played an important role in the process.
The announcement comes months after Trump drew attention during the FIFA Club World Cup final in New Jersey. After Chelsea FC defeated Paris Saint-Germain, Trump joined the trophy presentation and handed the title to Chelsea captain Reece James.
His decision to remain on the podium during the team’s celebrations became a major talking point, with many observers noting the surprised reactions of some Chelsea players.
