The 2027 presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, Omoyele Sowore, has said he will not travel abroad for medical treatment if elected president.

Sowore made the statement during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Thursday, where he also spoke about his plans regarding the use of presidential privileges and family-related responsibilities.

The AAC candidate said he would remain in Nigeria for medical treatment, even in circumstances where he could not receive the necessary care in the country.

“Any sickness that I can’t treat in Nigeria when I become president should better kill me. I can tell you that for free.

“I’m not bringing family liabilities back to Nigeria. There is no office of First Lady in the Nigerian Constitution. Becoming president will not abolish my marriage, but I will not have the office of First Lady.

“Women will be heard, but I don’t believe that you need a First Lady who is holding an unconstitutional position and just wasting money that is meant for progress and projects,” he said.

Sowore also said he was committed to ensuring that his presidency, if elected, would not be used for personal or family benefits.

He said his focus would be on serving Nigerians and ensuring that public resources were directed towards national development rather than personal interests.
