As the 2027 general elections draw closer, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar intensified political consultations on Wednesday, meeting separately with key opposition figures in a bid to strengthen the coalition seeking to challenge Bola Tinubu.
Atiku visited David Mark, National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), at his Abuja residence for a courtesy meeting, where the pair discussed ways to reinforce the party and restore public confidence in Nigeria’s democracy.
Earlier, he held talks with Rabiu Kwankwaso, former Kano State governor and 2023 NNPP presidential candidate, who recently joined the ADC. Kwankwaso’s defection from the New Nigeria People’s Party is seen as a strategic gain for the opposition coalition rallying around the ADC platform.
Atiku shared photographs from the meetings on his verified X account, tweeting that his discussions with Mark focused on strengthening the ADC and fostering democratic progress, while his engagement with Kwankwaso revolved around ensuring good governance and national recovery through party initiatives.
These engagements highlight ongoing efforts by opposition leaders to build a formidable alliance capable of mounting a serious challenge to Tinubu’s administration in the 2027 elections.
