Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has warned that land titles belonging to event centres, hotels and other public facilities in Abuja could be revoked if they are found hosting activities of illegal organisations.

The warning was conveyed in a statement issued on Friday by the minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, who said the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) would no longer tolerate the use of public facilities for gatherings that threaten peace and security in the nation’s capital.

According to the statement, land allocated within the FCT is intended strictly for lawful purposes, and any property linked to the operations of banned or illegal groups risks losing its title documents.

The administration also announced plans to strengthen surveillance of event centres, hotels and other public buildings as part of efforts to protect lives and property while supporting ongoing security operations across Abuja.

Olayinka stated that the increased monitoring would ensure such facilities are not used by unlawful organisations to hold meetings or activities capable of disrupting public order.

The FCTA further directed owners and operators of public facilities to verify the legal status of groups seeking to book their premises and maintain proper records of all transactions before granting approval for events.
