Former Kano State Deputy Governor, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, has been announced as the governorship candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the next election cycle.

The announcement was made by Ibrahim Garba Shuaibu, spokesperson to the former deputy governor, who disclosed that Gwarzo will be formally affirmed alongside other party flagbearers at the party’s upcoming affirmation ceremony.

He explained that the exercise will also cover the selection of candidates for the State Houses of Assembly, National Assembly, governorship, and presidential elections under the party’s platform.

Gwarzo, a former deputy governor, has also served as a local government chairman and commissioner in various ministries. He previously held appointments as a member of the National Assembly Service Commission and Chairman of the Governing Board of the Federal College of Education, Kontagora.

Following his emergence, Gwarzo expressed appreciation to party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters for their confidence in him. He also acknowledged the support of Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and members of the Kwankwasiyya movement.

His emergence is seen as a key development in the NDC’s preparations as political parties continue to position themselves ahead of future elections in Kano State. Party officials said the upcoming affirmation ceremony is aimed at strengthening party structures and expanding its grassroots mobilisation across the state.
