Veteran filmmaker, actor and retired Theatre Arts lecturer at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Alagba Kola Oyewo, has died at the age of 80.
He reportedly passed away on Friday, marking the end of a long and influential career in Nigerian theatre, film and academia.
His death was confirmed by actor Kunle Afod in a post shared on Instagram, where he paid tribute to the late thespian and celebrated his legacy in the entertainment industry.

“His remarkable talent, timeless performances, and immense contributions to the Nigerian theatre and film industry will never be forgotten. His legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.

Alagba Kola Oyewo celebrated his 80th birthday in March, an occasion that drew tributes from notable figures, including President Bola Tinubu, who described him as a national treasure and an outstanding ambassador of Yoruba theatre and Nigerian storytelling.
Over the years, Oyewo became one of the respected figures in Nollywood and Yoruba theatre, known for his commanding screen presence and dedication to mentoring younger actors.
