The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), insisting that neither party is capable of solving Nigeria’s political challenges.
Wike said both parties cannot be trusted to lead the country, arguing that they have failed to manage even their internal processes effectively.
Speaking during his monthly media chat, the Minister criticized the ADC over what he described as a poorly handled presidential primary, claiming it lacked transparency and was rejected by some of the aspirants.
He also recalled how leaders of the party had previously criticized both the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC), yet failed to demonstrate better standards.
Wike said, “NDC as small as they are can’t do a primary without protest, look at ADC, which says its coalition is willing to take over the structure of democracy. What has happened? During its primary, the two presidential aspirants said they can’t take it.”
He added that the situation exposes contradictions among parties claiming to be alternatives to the ruling structure.
“We have been accusing this and that party of doing this and that, now see what we have done. That now tells you who is deceiving who?”
According to him, parties that criticize PDP and APC as “bad” are not showing better examples in their own internal democracy.
“Who is coming to Nigerians to tell them lies that we are the Messiah? Those are all liars; they can’t be deceiving us.”
Wike further alleged that even basic party processes have been chaotic within the opposition parties, questioning their readiness to govern.
“They have agreed that PDP is a dead party, APC is rotten but just ordinary Congress they can’t. They have three presidential aspirants, two said this is rubbish, criminality to the highest order.”
