Atlético Madrid have reportedly turned down a €150 million offer from city rivals Real Madrid for Argentine forward Julián Álvarez, according to a statement published on Real Madrid’s website on Tuesday.

The bid is said to have been approved following an internal board meeting at Real Madrid, as the club continues to assess high-profile attacking reinforcements ahead of future transfer windows.

However, Atlético are understood to have quickly rejected the approach, stressing the importance of the forward to their sporting project and indicating that any possible transfer would only be entertained under the conditions of his release clause.

In the statement, Real Madrid confirmed the offer, saying:

“Real Madrid announces that, following the meeting of the Board of Directors held today, it has made an offer of 150 million euros to Club Atlético de Madrid for the federative rights of the player Julián Álvarez.

“After reviewing and evaluating the offer, Club Atlético de Madrid has expressed its gratitude for the proposal, made within the framework of the good relations between both clubs, and has rejected it, referring to the player’s release clause.”

Álvarez, who has become a key figure since his arrival, is highly regarded at Atlético for his work rate, versatility, pressing ability, and sharp movement across the front line.

Club officials are said to view him as central to their long-term plans rather than a player available for sale.

The reported rejection further underscores the delicate nature of transfer dealings between the two Madrid giants, whose rivalry has historically made direct negotiations rare and highly sensitive.
