Cleric Enoch Adeboye has triggered widespread discussion after outlining what he believes men should consider before getting married.
During a sermon, he stressed that practical home skills such as cooking and showing hospitality are important qualities in a wife, saying they contribute to a peaceful and successful marriage.
He also pointed to intelligence and moral character as essential traits, explaining that his advice aligns with biblical teachings.
He said:
“Don’t marry a girl who cannot cook. We’re talking of excellent counsel. Only me can tell you these things. If she can’t cook, even if a prophet says this is your wife. Say thank you, keep her. Because if she can’t cook, if she can’t be hospitable, you’re heading for trouble. The Bible made it clear that your wife must be someone who is intelligent and hospitable…”
His statement has since sparked debate online, with many sharing different opinions on his views about marriage and partner selection.
