Hilda Baci has blasted social media users who mocked her 15-year-old brother, David, after a video she posted featuring him sparked comments about his weight.
The celebrity chef said she was shocked to discover that a playful video she shared on Snapchat had been reposted across various platforms and turned into material for online bullying.
According to her, some trolls went beyond making hurtful remarks and allegedly edited photos of the teenager to exaggerate his size for the purpose of ridicule.
Expressing her disappointment, Hilda noted that her brother had done nothing to deserve the attacks and questioned why adults would choose to publicly shame a child.
“I never imagined that a lighthearted video with my 15-year old brother would be taken from my Snapchat, reposted across different platforms, and turned into an excuse to bully a child.
Some of you have left cruel comments. Others have gone as far as editing his photos to make him look bigger just to get a few laughs.
Adults are editing the image of a 15 year old boy and publicly mocking him.”
The food entrepreneur described David as a kind and loved teenager, stressing that the hateful comments would not define him or affect the support he receives from his family.
“My brother did nothing except exist in a funny video with his sister.
If your idea of entertainment is tearing down a child, then that’s a reflection of your character, not his.
He’s kind. He’s loved. He’s growing, learning, and becoming the amazing young man I know he will be.”
Hilda also reminded critics that there is a real human being behind the social media content they consume and urged them to be more mindful of the impact of their words.
In a separate post, she emphasized that David is surrounded by love and encouragement and condemned those who derive satisfaction from bullying a teenager online.
“David is 15. He is loved, deeply valued, fiercely protected, and we are immensely proud of the young man he is becoming.
The real tragedy is growing into an adult who finds purpose in bullying a child. That is a far heavier burden to carry than anything you have tried to project onto my brother.”
