Rauf Aregbesola, former Minister of Interior and National Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has called for the resignation of President Bola Tinubu, citing worsening insecurity and economic hardship in the country.

He made the call while speaking at the ongoing ADC National Convention in Abuja, where he also criticised the administration’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, describing it as ineffective in addressing Nigeria’s challenges.

Aregbesola said the ADC was formed as a platform to “rescue” the country from mismanagement, insisting that Nigerians are increasingly dissatisfied with the current state of governance.

He argued that the party is driven by the need to defend citizens’ rights and restore accountability in leadership.

“The ADC derives its existence from the aspirations and the values of the Nigerian people, who are tired of the deceit and colossal mismanagement to which this country is being subjugated,” he said.

He also faulted the government’s handling of the economy, saying conditions have significantly worsened since 2023.

According to him, key economic indicators such as exchange rates and fuel prices have risen sharply, placing more pressure on citizens.

Aregbesola further maintained that the country is facing deepening insecurity and urged Nigerians to demand stronger leadership and urgent reforms.
