Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has stirred reactions after taking a swipe at former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, during a court appearance.
In a video that surfaced online, Sowore directly addressed Malami, pointing out what he described as a reversal of roles, as the former justice minister now faces legal scrutiny.
“Now you see how it feels to be persecuted. When you were with former president Buhari then, you were bragging. We warned you that the justice system was failing, but you didn’t listen. Now the system is dealing with you.”
The remark appeared to reference Malami’s time in office under Muhammadu Buhari, a period often criticised by activists over concerns about the rule of law and alleged disregard for court orders.
Sowore’s comments have since drawn mixed reactions, with some seeing it as a reflection of long-standing grievances about Nigeria’s justice system, while others consider it a pointed personal jab amid the unfolding legal situation involving Malami.
