A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Sani, has downplayed alleged attempts by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to intimidate members of the party amid its ongoing leadership dispute.

Sani accused Wike of using his office to frustrate meetings organised by rival factions within the PDP, but insisted such efforts would not derail their activities or legitimacy claims.

Speaking on Arise Television’s Morning Show on Thursday, he said the alleged interference was part of familiar political tactics used within the party’s internal struggles.

According to him, members of his group remain unbothered and continue to function as the legitimate leadership of the PDP.

He added that they are awaiting the Certified True Copy (CTC) of a Supreme Court judgment, which he said would play a key role in resolving the leadership crisis.

Sani further alleged that Wike is aware of venues where PDP meetings are held but has been unable to stop them, describing previous similar actions during the tenure of former acting National Chairman Umar Damagum.

He said:

“This is not new to us… It is his own style to do that.

“We are not bothered. He knows we have been holding meetings… So he can’t do nothing.

“What he’s just trying is the last kick of a dying horse because he knows we are now the legitimate people.

“We are just waiting for CTC of the Supreme Court judgment for them to pack their bags and baggage…”

Sani maintained that the faction remains confident that ongoing legal processes will eventually settle the party’s internal leadership battle.
