The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has moved against internal dissent, expelling Nafiu Bala Gombe and members of his faction over alleged anti-party conduct.

The decision was reached during the party’s national convention held in Abuja on Tuesday, under the leadership of former Senate President David Mark.

Party leaders accused Gombe and his allies of engaging in actions that threatened the cohesion and stability of the ADC, prompting the disciplinary measure.

A key issue cited was Gombe’s decision to file a lawsuit challenging the legitimacy of the current leadership led by David Mark. According to party officials, such action violated internal procedures.

Resolutions from the convention stated that approaching the court without first exploring the party’s internal conflict resolution mechanisms amounted to anti-party activity and undermined the authority of the organisation.

The leadership also maintained that the legal move was an attempt to disrupt decisions already reached through established party processes.

The ADC said the expulsion was necessary to preserve unity and reinforce discipline within its ranks.
