A Federal High Court in Lagos has adjourned the cyberstalking case involving Nollywood actress Doris Ogala to June 9 after she failed to appear in court on Thursday.

Ogala is being prosecuted following a case filed by Chris Okafor, founder of the Mountain of Liberty and Miracle Ministry. She is facing a four-count charge that includes alleged unauthorized publication of private materials, dissemination of false information, cyberbullying, and attempted extortion.

When the matter came up, proceedings were halted due to the defendant’s absence. Prosecuting counsel, Tolulope Mokuola, informed the court that Ogala had been properly served with the hearing notice and urged the judge to issue a bench warrant for her arrest.

Defence counsel, Temiloluwa Akindayini, however, told the court that the actress was not present because of health issues, adding that she recently underwent surgery on April 21, 2026.

He further explained that she is currently recuperating in Abia State and that an affidavit confirming her condition had been filed before the court.

The prosecution challenged the claim, arguing that the affidavit was not served in advance and also questioned the authenticity of the medical details presented.

In his ruling, Justice Akintayo Aluko declined the request for a bench warrant, holding that the defendant should be given the benefit of the doubt since an affidavit had been submitted on her behalf.

The court also directed that any future medical excuse must be backed by a government hospital report and warned that the defence could be held accountable if Ogala fails to appear at the next sitting.

The case was then adjourned to June 9.
