Nigerian skitmaker Cute Abiola has sparked widespread debate online after sharing a lengthy video documenting his wife’s childbirth surgery, with critics raising concerns over privacy and monetisation.

The over one-hour video, uploaded on YouTube on Tuesday, captures moments from pre-surgery preparations through to recovery after delivery. In one emotional scene from April 4, the day of the procedure, Cute Abiola is seen outside the theatre, visibly shaken as he prays for his wife.

“So my wife is in the theatre already… I beg you God, please. I wish my wife safe delivery. I wish she comes out well. There should be no complications,” he said.

He disclosed that the operation marked his wife’s third surgery in four years, a detail that unsettled many viewers.

As the procedure continued, he said he played Quran recitations to ease his anxiety, admitting he struggled to stay composed.

“I was shaking already. I could not hold it anymore. I was just crying… Allah,” he added.

Relief eventually followed as the surgery was successful, with the comedian announcing the arrival of a baby boy.

Despite the joyful outcome, the video has triggered mixed reactions across social media, with many questioning the decision to film and share such a private medical moment.

“One of your hardest moments and you still hired a videographer… now you’re asking us to go watch it on YouTube?”

“Imagine what you are recording and posting… why are you using a natural process to make money?”

“Nothing wey una no dey monetise… like say women for our own family never go through similar procedures.”

“You still used your wife’s delivery in the theatre as content… I no understand anymore.”

“This is what happens when there’s no red line you can’t cross for clout.”

However, some users defended the move, describing the video as inspiring and a reflection of faith.

“Your wife is a strong woman… many pregnant women would be encouraged.”
