A Nigerian woman serving in the United States Army has appealed to President Donald Trump to intervene after her 10-year-old daughter was refused a visa to join her in the country.
The woman said she has been separated from her daughter for years, but the situation has become more distressing after the child fell critically ill while in Nigeria.
According to her, she wants the girl brought to the United States so she can personally care for her and ensure she receives the medical attention she urgently needs.
She said she has medical reports and other documents confirming the severity of her daughter’s condition. Despite having the documentation, however, the visa refusal has prevented her from bringing the child to the US.
Making a direct plea to Trump, the soldier asked the US president to consider making an exception in her daughter’s case.
“Dear Mister President, I am only simply asking that there should be an exception for me. My daughter is critically ill. I have all the paperwork to prove it, medical reports. Please help me. Please, Mr President, help me reunite with my daughter. This is just a mother fighting for her daughter to live and survive.”
The mother is now seeking special consideration that would enable her daughter to travel to the United States, where she hopes the 10-year-old will have access to the treatment she urgently requires and be reunited with her.
