Yusuf Buhari, son of former Nigerian leader Muhammadu Buhari, has formally declared his ambition to represent the Daura/Sandamu/Mai’adua Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He is seeking the seat under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
Yusuf made his intention known on Thursday in Daura while addressing party stakeholders and supporters. His declaration came shortly after a visit to Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, where he sought backing for his bid.
“I am here to seek your support, and I assure you that if elected, I will do my best and will never disappoint you, God willing. I thank all of you for your time, dedication and support,” he said.
At the gathering, the Dan Madamin Daura and District Head of Dumurkol, Alhaji Musa Haro, rallied support for Yusuf, stressing the importance of unity among stakeholders.
“We are here to ask for your support for our brother. We will go to the people in every town and village to seek their support. We will also reach out to other aspirants contesting the same seat to collaborate with them and seek their support.
“Even the current member, Hon. Aminu Jamo, did his best. We know how politics is — nobody can do 100 per cent,” Haro stated.
Yusuf was joined by former lawmaker Fatuhu Muhammad and several family members during the engagement.
