President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has stated firmly that political pressure from opposition parties will not derail his focus as preparations for the 2027 presidential election gather momentum.

He made this known on Thursday while addressing members of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, including national, zonal, and state leaders, during a meeting held at the State House.

Dismissing claims that he could be forced out or unsettled, Tinubu said: “They want to scare me off. It’s a lie. I’ve been through this path before, and if I have to come back over and over again, I’ll do the same thing.”

The president also appeared to allude to the internal leadership dispute within the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where some opposition voices have alleged interference from the Presidency.

Reaffirming his commitment to democratic values, Tinubu urged political stakeholders to uphold the rule of law and respect the independence of the judiciary, emphasizing that court decisions must be obeyed regardless of personal or political interests.

“We cannot submit to disobedience of a lawful order of a court. We must embrace the judiciary, whether it favours us or not. That is the principle of democracy and separation of powers.”
